Justice Minister Jane Poole-Wilson says a third of people who needed interpreters during criminal investigations were TT visitors.
In the House of Keys this week she faced a question from Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Jason Moorhouse about the number of suspects who needed translations.
Mrs Poole-Wilson said in total last year 21 people under investigation didn't have sufficient English skills.
But she added people may also need interpreters for sign language:
