Is Expansion A Positive?
An enquiry into the Tesco expansion will start today.
There are plans in the pipeline to give the Douglas Tesco a massive extension, creating hundreds of jobs, but there are fears that it could have a detrimental effect on smaller, local businesses.
The inquiry, held at the Sefton Hotel, will focus on two issues -it's location and impact on surrounding business and also if the plans comply with transport guidelines.
The parties to give evidence to the inquiry are Tesco, the Department of the Local Government and the Environment, Heritage Homes, Shoprite, the Isle of Man Chamber of Commerce and the Douglas Development Partnership.
