Creating a temporary campsite at the NSC during TT week could earn government a five-figure sum.
That’s according to the Department of Community, Culture and Leisure which has submitted a change of use planning application.
If approved the area in the middle of the athletics track would become a campsite for a major tyre company which wants to use it to host a hospitality area.
However the idea has been met with objections from local sports clubs which say it will affect training in the build-up to the Island Games.
DCCL chief executive Nick Black says while he appreciates their concerns it’s too good a prospect to turn down:
