A teenager who flipped her dad’s car onto its side while twice the legal limit turned out to have no insurance, a court’s heard.
Amelia Jasmine Brockbanks of Meadow View in Douglas appeared before Deputy High Bailiff James Brooks at Douglas Courthouse.
The 18 year old admitted drink-driving and having no insurance on March 20.
Prosecutor Hazel Carroon told the hearing Brockbanks had been driving her dad’s Audi when she crashed at the Braaid just after 1am.
When police arrived, she said she’d been celebrating a friend’s birthday with prosecco, rum, shots and cocktails in the British, Barbary Coast and 1886 in Douglas.
But she got behind the wheel after an argument with her boyfriend and told police she was three or four out of ten drunk.
Mr Brooks said the student was lucky not to have injured somebody in the crash, and fined her a total of £1,600.
She was also banned from driving for 30 months and ordered to pay £125 costs.
