An R-plated driver who almost caused a crash as he tried to overtake an off-duty police officer will be sentenced later this month.
Government mechanic Freddie Ralston of Alexander Drive in Douglas was excused appearing before magistrates at Douglas Courthouse.
The 18-year-old admitted driving without due care and attention on the Ballamodha Straight on September 7.
The court heard he tailgated the officer and tried to overtake her as she moved into the middle of the road to pass a parked car.
She had to perform an emergency stop to let Ralston past her.
Magistrates heard he has six points on his licence after two fixed penalty notices for driving without due care, and works as a mechanic, maintaining buses and ambulances.
His case was adjourned and he'll appear in court again on November 18.
