The Steam Packet has confirmed the delays to their Ben My Chree crossings are in relation to a problem with its starboard pitch control.
The issue was detected during the vessels routine pre-departure tests for the 02.15am sailing to the Isle of Man.
It led to a significant delay with the boat departing at 06.37am.
As a consequence there will be delays throughout the day with updates issued on the steam packet's website.
Initial investigations suggested there had been an electronics failure but a full engineering report will be needed before they can comment fully on the issue.
The engineers are currently working to minimise any further schedule disruption.
