A 'suspicious' package has resulted in an evacuation at Post Office Headquarters in Douglas this morning.
At around 8.45am police were called to the Sorting Office at Spring Valley Industrial Estate, after the package was identified by staff.
Following further investigation a decision was made to evacuate the building and nearby premises.
Currently the Sorting office remains closed and will remain so until specialist support unit from the UK arrive to safely dispose of the package.
However, employees from the premises next to the sorting office have been allowed to return.
Authorities say the appropriate procedures for incidents of this nature are being followed and the safety of the employees of the Post Office and the general public remains priority.
No further information will be released at this stage.
