12-bed facility for older people set to reopen next year
The Department of Social Care has announced today its intention to re-open the Surby Unit at Southlands Resource Centre
It follows a detailed review after The Department was approached last year by the MHKs representing the South of the Island, who expressed concern have been that some older people in the South were having to wait sometimes long periods to be admitted to Southlands or were having to leave the area to find residential care in others parts of the Island away from family or friends.
The 12-bed facility is set to reopen after April 2012.
