Students to receive results after cancelled exams

Pupils will receive their A-level and GCSE results this month, despite all exams being cancelled.

It comes following national and international exam boards making the decision to cancel all exams to protect life in March.

Shortly after the decision, the majority of schools on the Isle of Man were closed and remained so for three months, before reopening in June.

The government has now confirmed confirmed the Island’s five secondary schools will have their grades calculated in a different way this year.

Due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, students will be awarded grades using information such as coursework and predicted results.

A-Level students will be the first to receive their grades this Thursday, along with those studying Level 3 BTEC.

Meanwhile, GCSE results will be awarded on Thursday, August 20.

Education Minister Dr Alex Allinson says his department will be offering a range of support to help students moving on to college, university or work.
