Struggle with police after alcohol and cannabis binge

A man's admitted criminal damage and resisting police after a pub crawl that saw him consume large amounts of alcohol and cannabis.

22 year old Zachary Thomas Hardy of Glen Darragh Road in Glen Vine appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas Courthouse.

The court heard he'd arrived home at Castle Street in Peel at around 5am on March 10 and discovered he'd lost his keys.

He punched a glass door panel to let himself in but received a deep cut that meant he'd lost a lot of blood.

When neighbours noticed the blood they called police - but when officers arrived Hardy became abusive and kicked out at them.

Hardy was described by his advocate as an alcoholic with drug and mental health issues.

Mrs Hughes ordered him to do 100 hours community service and spend a year being supervised by the probation service.

He'll also have to pay £559 to cover the damage he caused as well as £125 costs, and has been banned from buying alcohol for a year.
