A stroke specialist is striving to establish a service that could prevent disability for patients at Noble’s Hospital.
The Thrombolysis Service has already been rolled out in the UK – where it has been proven successful in preventing many lifelong disabilities.
On developing stroke-like symptoms, people would be given the blood clot busting medication within the first hour of being brought into casualty.
Dr John Thomas is a consultant physician with a special interest in stoke and Parkinson’s disease - he says it would make a great addition to the service already provided for stroke patients:
