A very small number of cases of bacterium called MRSA USA 300 have been detected on the Isle of Man.
The strain is resistant to many antibiotics and can cause serious infection.
It predominantly affects young, fit and healthy people and is commonly transmitted in sporting facilities, gyms, swimming pools and spas.
Public Health wants to ensure that further on-Island spread of this strain of MRSA is prevented and to achieve this has produced posters, booklets and leaflets promoting awareness and public advice.
Outbreaks of MRSA USA 300 has led to the closure of sporting facilities and gymnasiums and disqualification of some athletes across the world.
