Steam Packet execs in Govt meeting

It\'s been revealed the Steam Packet attended a chaired meeting of Tynwald members last week to discuss the numerous issues affecting the company over the past month.

Minister for Infrastructure David Cretney chaired the meeting and organised a briefing for all members of government relating to the impact of the Ben-my-Chree’s damaged bow thruster, and the recent severe weather on the run up to Christmas.

The Steam Packet was represented by chairman Robert Quayle, director Kit Pemberton and chief executive Mark Woodward.

Mr Woodward outlined the efforts the company made to keep all passenger and freight disruptions to a minimum and the details of the Ben's dry-dock repairs.

The exact details and figures of freight and passenger backlog were also addressed.

The department concluded by saying it wished to engage with the Steam Packet as soon as practicable in order to review the recent difficulties and identify the lessons to be learned to avoid similar difficulties in the future.
