Staff cutback talks begin

High level talks have now commenced with regards to where staff cutbacks can be made in line with the recently announced budget.

For government's four year re balancing plan to work there needs to be a 10% reduction in staffing costs during this period.

It's thought the bulk of these cutbacks will come through natural wastage however there will also be a necessity for redundancy.

Most high profile of the recent cuts is of course the staff affected by the closure of the Government funded pre-school education centres.

There needs to be 175 positions cut before 2014, with 170 lost in the past year.
