A man’s been fined after being caught doing almost 60mph in a 40 zone.
Denis Joseph Staunton of Loch Promenade in Douglas admitted speeding when he appeared before magistrates at Douglas Courthouse.
Prosecutor Roger Kane withdrew a charge of having no insurance.
The court heard police doing speed checks on Kewaigue Hill clocked the 49 year old’s Ford Focus doing 59mph and gave him an on-the-spot fine, which he paid.
However, that was later refunded when officers investigated the insurance matter which was dropped.
Magistrates agreed to reinstate the original fine of £120 and imposed three penalty points on his licence as well as ordering him to pay £50 costs.
