Pupils And Teacher Back Following Two Week Stint at Prestigious Space School in Texas
The two sixth form students and accompanying teacher who won the chance to go out to Texas to study at the International Space School for two weeks have returned back to the Island now and have been telling 3FM about their experiences.
Ballakermeen teacher Ben Farnworth joined year 12 pupils Daniel Stevens and Liam Carter-Hawkins out in Houston after all three were successful in the annual essay writing competition ran by space company Mansat Ltd.
Whilst out there their main project was to plan a manned mission to Mars, with Mr Farnworth acting as mentor for one of the teams.
In addition to this they sat in on lectures from leading Space experts and were taken in space shuttle simulators and got to look around genuine control rooms.
The three described the trip as out of this world.
