Local authorities in the South of the Island are asking residents to compost their garden waste as much as possible.
Officials from the different parishes are hoping residents can help minimise the amount of garden refuse following the closure of the Southern Civic Amenity Site and the bring banks.
Commissioners in areas across the South say with people spending more time in their gardens the amount of waste needing collection is increasing, and have issued some simple steps on how to compost.
Clerk of Arbory and Rushen Commissioners, Phil Gawne, adds if you follow the basic guidance 'you get a valuable source of nutrients for your garden later in the year'.
