Southern 100 course clerk receives MBE

The clerk of the Southern 100 course has been handed a gong in the Queen's New Year's Honours list.

Phil Taubman, who's from Castletown, has been given an MBE for his services to the community and motorsport.

He's been involved in the racing around the Billown Circuit since 1955 and helped build a replica World War I trench in Castletown Civic Centre to commemorate the Great War.

Phil says he was astounded when he learned he'd be made a Member of the Order of the British Empire:
