South west regeneration plans revealed

An exhibition will open in Port Erin tomorrow (Thursday) to highlight plans to revitalise the south west of the Island.

Information boards will be displayed at the Railway Museum for the next two weeks to provide an update on projects currently being progressed as part of the town and regeneration scheme.

The initial phase of work includes Station and Church Road, Shoprite car park and the lower promenade as well as the railway station which has been earmarked as a new public transport hub and community area.

There are also plans for the bus station to be moved from Bridson Street to Station Road and a range of improvements including new paving, signage and lighting have also been proposed to improve other locations in the village as well as in Port St Mary.

Proposals have been drawn up following public consultation by the south west regeneration committee which is a partnership between government, local authorities and businesses.
