The government says although it buys meat for school meals locally, it can't guarantee it's Manx.
A Freedom of Information request to the Department of Education, Sport and Culture asked how much meat served in primary schools was 100 per cent Manx.
In its response, the department said all fresh and frozen meat is bought from local suppliers.
But it says the availability of Manx meat depends on the Island's supply chain, and so it can't guarantee it was produced here.
