Salt reserves remain untouched during mild November

The mild winter we\'ve experienced so far this year has been welcomed by the DoI work teams.

It also bodes well for the Island's salt reserves, which have managed to remain untouched through this first period of winter.

Last November the gritting teams were out on 12 separate occasions, having to work around the clock for the last 5 days of the month.

Upto this point they have only needed to make one brief trip over the mountain.

Civil Engineering Manager, Geoff Walmsley, told 3FM that his workmen have used this time to ensure all salt bins are filled in anticipation for a cold snap, but ultimately says the Island is more than ready in the event of snow and ice.
