Safeguards to be put in place ahead of paperless Noble's

Extensive safeguards will be put in place ahead of work to scrap paper records at Noble's Hospital.

That's according to the Department of Health and Social Care which wants to go digital by the end of 2018. 
 
It says the Island is moving into an age where paper and 'scribbled notes' - with their 'inefficiencies and potential for error' - will fade into the past. 
 
Moving patient information online is expected to save around 90 per cent of the current storage space - at present new records are being created at a rate of 7,000 sheets per day. 
 
Chief information and digital officer Richard Wild says safety of the information is a key priority:
