A Ballabeg man has been banned from the road for getting behind the wheel after a lovers' tiff.
57-year-old George Henry Howarth, of Friary Park, was caught driving his Subaru in the early hours of June 18th.
Officers had been alerted to the fact he'd been drinking and stopped him on Ramsey Road in Peel at 2am.
At Douglas Courthouse yesterday/on Thursday/ last week Howarth pleaded guilty to drink driving.
His advocate told the court Howarth had been in Ramsey for a "romantic weekend" with his wife but the pair had become embroiled in an argument that "got out of hand".
He said Howarth made a "miscalculated" decision over his ability to drive adding, "He made an impulsive, poor choice".
Sentencing him Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes said the decision was "foolish" adding, "This was clearly a very bad night".
Fining Howarth £850 she disqualified him from driving for two years - and until he's taken and passed an extended driving test; he was also ordered to pay £125 in costs.
