BA Pilot acquited of murdering estranged wife Joanna Brown on diminished responsiblity
Robert Brown has this morning been found not guilty of murdering his estranged wife, and former Island resident Joanna Brown.
47-year-old Brown had admitted killing her last October, but claimed he was suffering from a mental condition that seriously impaired his ability to exercise self control, he was cleared on the grounds of diminished responsibility.
The body of 46-year-old Joanna was found buried in woodland near to her £3 million Ascot home.
The court had heard how they were going through a tough divorce, which centred on a pre nuptial agreement that Robert Brown had described as a stitch up.
The pair had two children together; they’re currently residing on the Island, aswell as other members of Joanna’s close family.
Joanna was the daughter of prominent local property developer Chris Simpson, she spent her youth on the Island attending the Buchan Primary School, more recently she’d established a thriving guesthouse business.
Although Robert beat the murder charge he was found guilty of obstructing a coroner from holding an inquest.
