A new Children's Champion for the Island has been appointed this week by government.
Onchan MHK, Rob Callister, takes up the position, replacing Tim Baker MHK who took up the post as Minister for Infrastructure earlier this month.
Mr Baker took up the ministerial position as part of a recent reshuffle following the dismissal of former Policy and Reform Minister, Chris Thomas MHK, from the Council of Ministers in late May.
Mr Callister's new role will focus on representing the interests of children in care, young carers and children with complex needs, when decisions that will affect them are made.
The Onchan representative has also been invited to become a member of the Department of Environment, Food & Agriculture alongside Martyn Perkins MHK, with a third slot on that political team still vacant.
Speaking about the move, Mr Callister says: "I am honoured to accept this important role and look forward to hearing about the diverse concerns, needs and aspirations of looked-after children, young carers and children with complex needs.
" I will reflect carefully on what they say and take opportunities to promote their views to wider government. This is an area close to my heart and I am grateful for the opportunity to help provide a voice for vulnerable children."
