Roadworks near Mooragh Promenade starting next week

Preparation work has begun on a project to improve roads in the area around Mooragh Promenade in Ramsey.

The Department of Infrastructure plans to resurface the highways from outside the front of the Northern Swimming Pool and the entire length of Old River Road from the Swing Bridge to North Shore Road.

The department says the main part of the initiative is expected to begin next Monday (June 29) when a parking suspension order will also be brought in.

Any vehicle that remains in situ will be removed by the Department to a secure site and be subject to removal and storage fees before release.

As the work progresses it will be necessary to then completely close the road to traffic.

It is planned that the road will close from Monday, July 6 until Sunday, July 26 (or earlier if the work is completed). This closure will run 24 hours a day.

Officials add this won't affect operations at the swimming pool or its pedestrian and car park access.

Highways Services comments that this project is part of a larger scheme which includes parts of Mooragh Promenade and the whole of North Shore Road.
