The RNLI says it was "happy" to enter into an agreement with government to use the TT initials on its fundraising badges.
It comes after the Department of Economic Development charged the charity £250 to use the lettering - something that caused outrage from the public.
A spokesperson for the RNLI says the organisation entered into the agreement to ensure the "valuable fundraising stream" could continue.
Last year more than £5,000 was raised through the sale of the pin badges.
