Crew members from Douglas RNLI are travelling to Poole in Dorset to pick up the capital's new Trent-class lifeboat.
It will replace the station's aging Mersey-class boat, which is reaching the end of its service life.
After some training on the new vessel type, the volunteers are expected to arrive with it in Douglas on Saturday, August 9.
It was originally hoped the replacement lifeboat would be brought in by spring, but the charity first needed to obtain a licence for its berth from the Department of Infrastructure.
