Rise in 'sextortion' reports, Police say

Police say they've received increasing numbers of reported 'sextortion' cases on Island.

This is when people receive an e-mail where the sender claims to have personal information or videos of the user and know their password,  threatening to release the material if the target then doesn't pay up.

In response, officers are offering advice on how to prevent and remain aware of the risks of this.

The constabulary took to social media this week to issue its message.
