Events such as the Castletown Christmas Light Switch on give children something to look forward to and enjoy.
That's the message from Nathan Rogers from the Castletown Christmas Committee.
In a post on social media, Castletown Commissioners say they're aware a number of events have been cancelled around the Island following the recent Covid briefing.
However, the board wants to reiterate the Christmas light switch on is taking place tomorrow (December 4) - with safety at the forefront of the boards mind - mitigations such as face masks and hand sanitiser will be available.
Speaking to 3FM, Mr Rogers explained people will be encouraged to follow whichever precautions they feel most comfortable with - whether that be socially distancing or watching the festivities from afar.
He also clarified making sure the event took place outdoors was a main priority:
Market Stalls will be set up in Castletown Square from 2pm, with the 'Santa Dash' taking place at 3.30pm.
Choirs & local acts will also perform later in the afternoon with the main switch on at 6pm and Father Christmas in his grotto.
Mr Rogers explained why it's so important events like this still go ahead:
The full schedule is as follow:
3.30pm - Santa Dash
4.00pm - CRHS Choir
4.30pm - Spinnin’ Vannin
5.00pm Jack and the Beanstalk
5.15pm Snow Queen followed by Castletown Silver Band
