Investigators say a Flybe flight - operated by Stobart - landing at Ronaldsway scraped its tail on the runway because of a combination of factors.
The passenger flight from Birmingham carrying 70 people and four crew touched down on December 18 when its tail struck the ground, scratching the aircraft but causing only minor damage.
An investigation by the UK's Air Accidents Investigation Branch found a downwards slope, slightly high pitch angle and high landing weight had all contributed to the incident.
Nobody was injured during the incident and engineers found the plane didn't need any work to remain in service.
