Health Minister did not knowingly mislead House of Keys

Health Minister David Anderson

The Health Minister did NOT knowingly mislead his political colleagues according to the findings of a standards committee.

David Anderson was accused of misleading the House of Keys over a letter from a number of clinicians expressing their concern over patient safety at Noble's Hospital.

He had claimed support for the letter had been withdrawn by a number of the clinicians, something refuted by a leading consultant.

The committee found that Mr Anderson’s statements were not correct, however they felt he was sincere and had not knowingly mislead his fellow politicians.

The report alleged instead the House was misled due to a series of miscommunications within the hospital and the Department of Health with the Minister’s personal statement not vetted sufficiently by department officers.

Minister Anderson had previously stated he would resign from his post if found to have knowingly mislead the house, he will be addressing the matter in this month’s sitting of Tynwald.
