Remand for man accused of Newby's robbery

A Douglas man who’s accused of robbing Newby’s Newsagent last year has been remanded at the Isle of Man Prison.

25-year-old Jamie Hall appeared at Douglas Courthouse today – last night police charged him with the robbery of the Glen Falcon Road shop.

It’s alleged he threatened the lone female shop assistant on the evening of November 3^rd before lighting and throwing a firecracker in her direction and fleeing with £1,000 in cash.

Hall has also been charged with a burglary at the Billown Quarry in 2013 after new forensic evidence linked him to the case.

No pleas were entered to either charge – an application for bail was refused and Hall will next appear in court on February 4^th.
