Organisers of the Relay For Life are hoping people will get involved in an event to raise awareness of the occasion in the New Year.
The Isle of Man will take part in the Relay First Lap event on January 9 at the NSC ahead of the full 24-hour event which is held in August each year.
Those behind it say it'll also be an opportunity for residents to meet the committee members and ask them any questions you may have.
New to the event this year, the Committee will be holding a mini candle of hope ceremony at the conclusion of the event to celebrate those affected by Cancer.
Media Chair, Tony Lawler, says: "We would love to see as many of our Relayers as possible on the day take part in this global event.
It’s been a hard year for us all and especially for those affected by Cancer. We want to do something special as our first lap this year and hope this will be the start of a new relay tradition."
Registration for the first lap occasion will be at 2.30pm on the day and is then due to get underway at 3pm - more information is also available on the Relay For Life IOMO Facebook page or by contacting relayiom@gmail.com .
