Staff Told To Send In Their CV\'s For Redeployment Opportunities
3FM have been handed the letter issued to the 16 staff in the Isle of Man College Refectory who are now facing the possibility of redundancy.
It’s the move that has whipped Douglas North MHK’s Bill Henderson and John Houghton into a frenzy, leading them to call Eddie Teare a megalomaniac Minister.
The letter outlines that it’s the only area of the college operating at a deficit – this is due to staffing costs.
It says in the event of redundancy being unavoidable the staff will receive payouts totalling a maximum weeks wage set by the Department of Trade and Industry for every year they’ve been there, the letter states that currently it stands at £480 per week.
They have however been told that there may be no alternative to outsourcing, those affected are being asked for their suggestions to avoid redundancies while eliminating the deficit – if redundancy is the only option then efforts will be made to re-employ them within the Department with the letter asking for their CV’s in the event of that outcome.
The consultation period for their ideas ends on Friday 30th July.
