An expensive project to redevelop Douglas Promenade starts today.
The first phase of a multi-million scheme to make the area the ‘gateway to the capital’ is starting between Peveril Square and Loch Promenade.
Carriageways will be restructured, junctions and crossings improved and pedestrian areas will be updated.
It’s been 80 years since any work was done to improve the area which the Department of Infrastructure says is long overdue.
Minister David Cretney believes the work is also a welcome boost to the construction industry:
