Ramsey to pay tribute to fallen soldier

Ramsey will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the death of a soldier today.

The Commissioners and the town's branch of the Royal British Legion will lay a cross at the war memorial at 6.30pm and hold a minute's silence.

It's to pay tribute to Brigade-Major Harry William Crippin of the M.C. Royal Artillery - he was 27 when he was killed whilst serving on the Western Front.

His parents resided on the Island; the Commissioners and Royal British Legion have undertaken to commemorate the 100th anniversary of each town's loss during World War One in this manner.
