Up to three weeks of work on Ramsey's swing bridge means the crossing will shut for around a month in August.
The Department of Infrastructure says contractors will be replacing wooden joists and decking under the road surface.
Meanwhile, harbours division staff will replace electrical fittings.
The bridge is due to shut to vehicles and pedestrians from Monday, August 3 and the DOI says its road closure includes extra time in case weather delays the work.
