Ramsey Grammar School teacher tells 3FM about trip to Tour de France

Students taken on trip of a lifetime to Tour de France

A group of cycling enthusiasts from Ramsey Grammar School have just got back from the trip of a lifetime to cheer on local hero Mark Cavendish in two stages of the Tour de France.

The 11 pupils were taken on the trip as part of the School’s stand-alone week, where the students are taken off the normal curriculum.

They were lucky to time their visit around two flat stages which saw Cav finish a close second on Tuesday and claim a win in yesterday’s race.

For Tuesday’s race they were positioned 5 metres from the finish line, on Wednesday they were able to get to his team bus for a meet and greet, they first caught his attention by singing the Manx national anthem whilst he was getting interviewed.

The Manx Missile showed his appreciation to the visiting fans by thanking them for their support on his twitter feed.

Teacher Rob Sorby both proposed and accompanied the students on the trip, he commended Cavendish for taking time out of his hectic schedule to meet them.
