Conscientious shoppers are calling a local supermarket to account for throwing away bins full of food.
A local woman posted a picture on Facebook which showed the bins at the Ramsey Co-op full of food which was just past its sell-by date.
She expressed her upset about the amount of wasted food - saying she recognised the potential health and safety problems with selling it but questioned whether it could go to a better use.
Earlier this year France banned supermarkets from throwing away waste food - forcing them to donate it to charity or to sell it at a cheaper price; however shops on the Island don't have to do this.
One commentator said they'd also noticed the problem and had contacted their local MHK - others branded it 'disgraceful' and urged The Co-op to change its policy.
3FM contacted The Co-op - the company says it's 'in discussion' with the Isle of Man Food Bank to 'identify ways to redistribute more food to local people'.
