The Island's electric railways have seen nine incidents involving brake failures in the past five years.
The Department of Infrastructure has released the figures after a Freedom of Information request from 3FM.
The department says since 2013, the Manx Electric Railway has seen three incidents, while another six were reported on the Snaefell Mountain Railway.
Only 2015 was incident-free, according to the statistics.
The DOI is investigating after an incident on the Snaefell Mountain Railway earlier this month that saw a tram roll down the mountain with passengers on board.
