Department of Home Affairs Announce Proposed Additions to Anti-Terrorism Legislation
The Public’s views are sought in relation to new legislation designed to update the Isle of Man’s anti-terrorism laws.
There are 56 new clauses looking to be added to the existing Anti-Terrorism and Crime act, and the Terrorism Finance act, last updated in 2003 and 2009 respectively.
The new draft bill has created some new offences, one being the encouragement of terrorism plus other offences related to weapons of mass destruction.
Home Affairs Minister Adrian Earnshaw has said after establishing the Island as a well regulated International finance centre it’s important there are no weaknesses in legislation that could be exploited by those wanting to engage in International terrorism.
Details of the draft Bill are available online at www.gov.im/consultations or from the DHA Chief Executive’s Office, Homefield, 88 Woodbourne Road, Douglas.
