Public consulted for their views on future of waste management on the Island

Every year the Island produces approximately 200,000 tonnes of waste, which is nearly 2.5 tonnes for every resident.

The public are being asked how they think waste should be managed in the future, and what measures they think should be considered.

Every year the Island produces approximately 200,000 tonnes of waste, which is nearly 2.5 tonnes for every resident.

Over the past ten years they have phased out the method of land filling the waste, opting now to recycle it.

The Department of Infrastructure’s aim of the next 20 years is to continue to treat waste as a resource in an effort to totally bring an end to the process of landfilling.
