Prom resurfacing costing £40,000

£40,000 is being spent on resurfacing Douglas Promenade because the road is 'at the point of no return'. 

That's according to the Department of Infrastructure which is in the process of laying new tarmac along the busy highway:

The project is being carried out in phases - phase one saw a new surface laid up to the Palace Hotel; the second stage will see the section of road from the hotel to the Summerhill junction renewed.
 
Infrastructure Minister Ray Harmer has praised the work but says it's not a long term solution:
