Project to improve Island highways

A project to improve a series of roads around the Island gets underway next week.

Seven highways have been identified for work to be carried out on, including the Castletown Bypass at the Southern 100 start/finish straight and the A5 Douglas Road between Orrisdale and Clagh Vane.

The initiative looks to improve water drainage on surfaces and seal cracks on certain stretched to improve ride quality by leveling out ruts and depressions.

Officials say speed restrictions will be in place on sections affected, and road markings on them will be removed beforehand with motorists asked to drive in those areas with care.

Work will begin on Tuesday, July 23 - a list of the roads scheduled for changes is available below.
