Prince Charles undertakes royal engagements

Despite the unfavourable weather Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall have successfully carried out their engagements on the Island.

The royal couple attended the NSC in Douglas shortly after 12.30pm where they met members of the Isle of Man Cycling Club and world champion cyclists Peter Kennaugh and Ben Swift.

Battling the wind and rain Prince Charles, who was joined by the Lieutenant Governor and his family, started an outdoor cycle race with the Duchess waving the chequered flag. 

Escorted by police the royals then moved onto Peel where they met local food producers and members of the RNLI and emergency services.  

Speaking to 3FM Dot Tilbury, who organises the cycling club, said everyone had enjoyed meeting the royal couple:
