Post Office staff to meet with Union regarding possible strike action

The Post Office reiterate that any talks will have to take place against the backdrop of the freeze on public sector pay budgets.

The Post Office has revealed they’ve received a letter from Communication Workers Union rep Terry Pullinger, saying he wants to work with the Post Office to avoid strike action and find a swift resolution.

The Post Office are welcoming the talks, but have reiterated they will have to take place against the backdrop of the freeze on public sector pay budgets.

Workers recently voted in favour of strike action over the pay dispute, but work is still ongoing to prevent this extreme measure.

Post Office Chairman, Alan Crowe MLC has warned a strike would be reckless and could be seriously damaging to the future of the company.

The CWU will hold a meeting on Sunday with their members to discuss the next step forward; there are a number of procedures that first need to happen before a strike, as yet there is no set date.

Speaking to 3FM Terry Pullinger has stated that a strike is the last thing he wanted to see happen and believes a resolution can still be reached.
