Post Office bringing back Covid safety measures

Isle of Man Post Office has announced it's bringing back Coronavirus safety measures during the circuit-break lockdown.

The organisation says staff will be wearing appropriate PPE and observing social distancing and will continue to only log the name of the recipient of parcels rather than ask for a signature.

Customers are being asked not to approach their postie whilst out on their rounds and make sure dogs are kept securely in homes for doorstep deliveries.

Postal Headquarters in Douglas will now operate on the revised hours of 9am-5pm Monday to Friday and 9am-12.30pm on Saturdays.

The public counter at the Northern Delivery Office will operate 10am to 5pm on weekdays and 11am-12.45pm on Saturdays for counter transactions and parcel collections.

The parcel collection counter at the Southern Delivery Office will be open Monday to Friday from 7.30am to 2.30pm.

Where a parcel is being delivered which will not fit through a letterbox, postal staff are placing the item at doorsteps, where it is safe to do so - if there's no area safe to leave a parcel, postal staff are leaving a ‘while you were out’ card advising of other ways customers can arrange to get their item.

Post Office Chief Executive, Simon Kneen, says: "As we enter a further circuit breaker, we continue to assure our valued customers that we remain well prepared and remain as committed as ever to do all we can to ensure minimum disruption to service, we know how much Islanders rely on our vital service.

"I wish to express my thanks to the whole team which makes up our business for their ongoing sterling work to maintain services in what can often be very challenging circumstances."

Officials say for MiCard collections, people can nominate a proxy to collect pensions or benefits on their behalf.

Anyone wanting more information or has any queries is invited to get in touch with the Customer Services team on 664 664.
