Post office services will continue in Port St Mary after an agreement was reached with the subpostmaster there to extend the existing contract.
The contract had been due to end tomorrow (January 31), however subpostmaster Jeff Calvert has agreed to carry on the contract for an additional period.
Chair of Isle of Man Post Office, Julie Edge MHK, says: "We wish to thank the sub postmaster for his agreement to continue to provide current services.
"We hope that services will continue to be provided until the Communities Committee reports back to Tynwald in July 2021, giving IOMPO time to consider the outcome of this, other reviews currently being undertaken by Government, and other factors such as the renewal/non-renewal of other commercial contracts it holds with Government Departments, as well as transaction volumes at that time."
Meanwhile, Mr Calvert adds: "Calvert Newsagents Ltd are pleased to be able to continue to provide Post Office counter services in Port St Mary for the foreseeable future."
