A man’s been remanded in custody over allegations he had more than £24,000 worth of cocaine posted to him.
Anthony John Richard Lyons of the Edremony Estate in Port Erin appeared before Deputy High Bailiff Christopher Arrowsmith at Douglas Courthouse.
He’d previously pleaded not guilty to being unlawfully concerned in producing the class A drug to the Island as well as possessing it with intent to supply it.
Prosecutor Hazel Carroon told the court a package containing 245 grammes of cocaine was intercepted by police and Post Office staff on January 13.
Officers allowed the 33 year old to pick it up from his doorstep before raiding his house - he denied knowing the parcel had drugs inside, and said he’d planned to throw the cocaine, with a street value of £24,500, in the bin.
Mr Arrowsmith turned down a bail application, and remanded Mr Lyons in custody to appear in court again on February 16.
